I support Touchriver ..

I watched this movie in Canada, and it showed the reality in 80s. All the events are true. The church bombing scene makes me to recall the "Navali" church bombing. The "Navali" church is located 5 KM from Jaffa in "Manipay" road. Two Srilanka air force bombers bombed the church, and I was about 600 meters away from the church at the time. I think about 100 people died in that air strike.
People who against this movie are people who dont want to see the real history. Ignoring the real history always make you learn the lessons again. Well done Touchriver, I hope your message will be well received.

The story is reflected by all true tamils
by Arjuna on May 24, 2003 10:25 PM

Im 15 years old and i left Sri Lanka due to the Government. The atrocities performed by the Indian Peace Keeping Force and the SLA are all true and the film tells the story of every tamil who has left jaffna or other parts of Sri Lanka. I have cousins who have been brutally murdered and i hear stories of what the IPKF and the SLA did every day and these stories are far worse than the ones shown in the film. so those of you who are against the film, you have not been through what tamils have been through. This film is a real life diary of many tamils. May this film show watchers our torment

You should be a shamed to call yourself tamil Mr Arjun M Subramanium. I understand that your family members may have been killed by the LTTE but at the same time MY dad with 12 other people were MURDERED by the Army in public. What reason ? none was given. They had no trial, no support nothing. Your family members are just 2 out of possible 60,000 that died in sri Lanka. I bet you never even lived through what most of the tamil people went through. Have you forgotten the stuff the Indian army did. Who asked for their help?? I haven't seen the film yet but come 22 May I will be in the cinema with the rest of the true Tamil people to support this film as I have read good reports about it.

I am a Sri Lankan Tamil. I watched this film a while ago and I don't think that it is at all appropriate to call this film by the the title "In the Name of the Buddha". It is absolutely shameful to see Mr 'Touchriver' title his film like this when there are much more appropriate titles.

I certainly don't think that this movie has contributed anything to reconciliation in Sri Lanka. If anything it has probably led to more antagonism between the Singhalese and the Tamils. I don't want to sound pro-government but it is a credit to the SL government that they have not allowed any movie that is anti-Tamil to be released even during the war. Even the Singhalese directors have never made an anti-Tamil movie..... Rajesh should have a look at movies like saroja and Purahanda Kaluwara if he wants to aide reconciliation in Sri Lanka.

I left Sri Lanka not mainly because of the government but because of the so called 'freedom fighters' who killed two of my family members. I did not find much that portrays the bad side of the LTTE in this movie....which is a shame really. It does not add to the movie that it has been condemned in Sri Lanka by the Catholic Church and Muslim groups as well as the Buddhists. That is close to 90% of the Sri Lankan population who think it is biased. I tend to agree.

Don't try and aide reconciliation in SL Mr Rajesh......you have done enough harm already.

Hey Arjun:
YOU MUST BE A SINGHALESE !!!
I saw this movie and I know that the story in the movie is true and I heard stories about SLA and IPKF even worse but not in film form yet to let the international community know.

I wish you all the best the director Rajesh Nair Touchriver and the Producers : K Shanmughathas , Sai George.

I wish to see more films about the war in the same way with worse stories that not yet revealed.
