While in the 2nd or 3rd para you state that it has earned an 'astounding' (your words, not mine) 350 million worldwide, you continue to say later on that it has earned 50million worldwide.....now which of the two statements is correct, mon ami ?
I watched this movie during its premiere in Atlanta couple of months back. To tell you the truth, I wasn't very impressed. This movie is not dramatically different from the movies made with Desi themes. It is funny, but average movie with typical stereotyping of Indians.
$350 million world wide. Does not make sense when its UK (biggest market $ wise!) take is only $18m...and the US market has just started. Please do the research before publishing things that cannot be substantiated. You probably meant $35 million.
While the movie was funny in a way I feel that Gurinder Chadha has stretched it a bit too far. Why the likes of Chaddha, Mira Nair and Deepa Mehta always insult religious beliefs and other norms, which atleast are not harmful? I enjoyed watching Bend it Like Bekham but I think repeatedly bashing indian culture and norms is doing no good and they pretend as if what they show is happening around everywhere in every single city in India or anyone living abroad! How about for a change showing the life of modern Indian generation?
