Government employees are not trained to work in commercial informant. Almost 90% of corporate mail is send through private courier service. Hardly any bank sends its cheque books through postal department. Post is what Department is supposed to specialize in. If they cannot compete in postal services, it is impossible for them to compete in Banking. Let Govt. not waste tax payer’s money. Let us gradually bid good bye to our present elaborate postal dept. Maintain Dept. at tax payer cost for sensitive communication only.
In rural areas not many people will have money more than 15000 to deposit every month in a bank. Also they may like to keep some cash in their hand. With mail traffic comin down post men will have more time to do banking... So atleast in rural areas it may be useful to people...
