It is very simple. There are 10 countries on top of the list. Just find out as to what all they have done and also do. Just copy it. You don't have to invent the wheel again.

Improvement in ethical conduct is an essential factor

Ease of doing business has a direct relation to ethical conduct of the other party - govt agency, local bodies, customer payments, workers, society members - of course given that the person conducting business is also ethical.

Most NPAs of small borrowers are due to pending payables by large companies who cannot be easily brought to book. Payables from Govt are highly uncertain, given fiscal deficits and political cartels. All these are indicative of lack of ethical values in the involved stakeholders.

In the race to economic prosperity, "booms" portray a colourful outwardly development while somewhere in the supply chain some small supplier or manufacturer forfeits due payments; the mechanism to fight and recover dues is long drawn and the small business generally suffers and eventually perishes.

Focus on personal commitment to project timelines and payment timelines, and support from managements to this, will help boost real development. The thirst for huge margins must go and be replaced with measures of value created and benefits realized.

An ocean of change in mindset and perception of prosperity is required. Until then, "ease of doing business" is merely a ranking provided by an outside agency who is not a stakeholder in any of the process, and is not indicative of any real strength of the business environment.
