by Homi Irani on Sep 10, 2018 03:33 PM

Why charge more to indian public, when we export oil to Nepal at half the price. Petrol in Nepal is cheaper than Petrol in India.

Bringing Oil into GST is the only way
by Kannan Ramanan on Jun 04, 2018 10:31 AM

Bringing OIL into the GST at the highest level is the only correct way of bringing fairness and transparency into the customer pricing arena.

Once public is aware of the weighted average crude basket, refining cost, refining margins, transportation, dealer commission etc all these cannot be tinkered with easily and cannot attract the doubts of the common man. With GST at 28%, then it leaves it a level playing field so that common man cannot cringe when prices flare up high and will be naturally happy when prices crash. This way, all governments can breathe easy without attracting any comments from the public with regard to controlling/de-controlling or interfering with Oil prices.
Decreased Oil prices will improve lower cost across the board, improve production, consumption, returning back as GST on goods...
