The route cause is Sycophancy and related thoughts in such matters. 100% people in ICICI must have gone overboard trying to get the loan through knowing that their big boss is directly or indirectly involved. While Chanda Kochar must be in the aware of things but quite likely many facts may not have even been highlighted by people below The other is numbers and targets and achievements. While KPAs are important it does not mean that rules should be twisted and once the loan is given then to save yourself you cover up for one NPA and another loan is given and the vicious cycle starts - Mallaya and Nirav Modi or Simbhaoli being typical examples. I think besides the borrower the lenders are equally culpable playing with public money indiscriminately without thought as no action has really been taken against the real defaulters. If the Swift system had a flaw why have the banks not brought it to the notice of RBI or why has the RBI not initiated action to cover up for all weaknesses in the system Why should the banks not be penalized and closed down if required even at the cost of the customer. Instead of infusing capital into the banks the customers should be paid off for the money put in the bank in any form and the bank to be penalized. Why should government infuse fresh capital - they have got enough money back into the system through demontization - so let them manage it and if they cant they should be severly penalized Somebody has to have the will to to take action.
Sumant Sinha s/o of Yashwant Sinha, who was back then the FM also started a wind company, which was promptly funded $50 million by Goldman Sachs. But, guess what the true source of the money was - it was Pramod Mahajan's money which was routed back. Otherwise, how can a paper company raise such a large amount. So, let's not be under any illusions. The guys at the top are always playing these games and the naive common man has no clue what is happening.

That precisely is the reason why these cases even after being flagged by a whistle blower to PMO in 2016 is not being proceeded against.Now that PE has started finally but given that in all probability the PE of this case having apolitical link will be stopped in couple of weeks. Modi govt. brings the Electoral bonds, should Videocon buy and gift them to BJP or might have already given them then will the Modi govt. allow the PE to proceed further into full scale investigation? No.UPA was corrupt Modi was voted to clean the system but5 he is just taking the same system forward instead of fighting corruption as promised.Given he is a highly motivated and committed RSS Prachark he is just not interested in anything other than building a "Hindu Rashtra"
