Make it sonar Bangla
by R ponnabalam on Mar 26, 2018 05:05 PM

Who doesn't commit mistakes.Every one at some time or other does it.But should not remain stuck in it.Some funny self opiniation generated the super ego of respect and power of labour and that caused havoc.it is like that famous words "her fertile imagination caused havoc in her mind ."If Mrs. Gandhi's Emergency can make trams run to time, workers report in time in Govt. offices and in steel plant people in W.Bengal can and will obey rules. You have to make it happen. Let the state Government start Industries.People are literate there. They can be taught to listen to reason.Bengal must become SONAR BANGLA.Start it in small ways without depending on Centre sides etc .Then things will get auto monetumR/PONNAMBALAM

easy easy , be bold

Simple !Simple! We complicate it.Indiscipline was rampant. The new G.M. ushered in.Came the instruction"THE SHIFT IN CHARGE IS THE DE FACTO AUTHORITY;YOU ARE DE JURE.Shift In charge cannot be overruled.I was a fresher;that made me stand there. My G.Foreman told "If you write Recommended I pass it;If you write Forwarded I reject it." The workers did fall in line (Not to me) but the system that worked from top to bottom.I was the junior most If I undertimed I got the sobriquet R.Ponnambalam attendance cutter. But job was done.A lot of talent is lost for want of little courage. The mangements the leadership the govt. failed badly to imbibe that courage .Not that I was courageous .My shop trade union leader was a reasonably good man.May be that made a big difference I thank him My charge hands were excellent.Difficult days. But I would say My workers were GOOD.failing to do the needed we find scapecoats now.As one who had baptism in Industry in Bengal I want Industry there to do well.People were/are good. They accepted when said:"I don't know bangla ,or Hindi .I may say anything. But officially what I mean is what I say in English and that is Final. They accepted it.What more I want .R,PONNAMBALAMR.Ponnambalam

We made them play wrong
by R ponnabalam on Mar 26, 2018 03:14 PM

" popular pro-labour sentiment that reaped dividends for many years"No parent permits and brings liquor to his kids to be popular with their kids.We pamperred wrong habits of labours in Bengal. All workers were not bad.carrot Ok. If stick is administered they fell in line may be a little later.Managements lost the verve. as labour laws were unhelpful to arrest indiscipline. The Govt. failed miserably. If One Trade union Leader turned M.D. can set right D.S.P. in a year it has to be accepted that the Govt.the leadership failed the Nation and find scapecoats now.People were simply not working; as group restricted production to low levels and idled the time.Implementing No work no pay was not uniform. If a shift had that practice right from his early days he did it and that worked.People who were not practicing such things let the things go loose. In everyday affair the interference of Union was there.R.Ponnambalam

illegitimate law
by R ponnabalam on Mar 26, 2018 03:02 PM

"But what is lawful need not necessarily be legitimate." ALL the bank Loans that Industry manages to get is lawful but not legitimate.R.Ponnambalam

Greater damage than said

Viloent trade unionism spoiled not W.Bengal alone ;it ruined the income growth of the lower section of the Indian Population and the industrial development of India. The research report by Thomas Piketty and Lucas Chancel says that during the era of Govt. controlled Economy(Mixed Economy) the income growth of lower section of the population had grown up till upto mid 70s and of the top1% rich people had come to 6% in 1980s. The income share of India’s top 1% rose from approximately 6% in 1882 -1883 to above 10% a decade later and then to 15% in 2000 and further still around by 23% by 2014.This is during Privatization loot era with tacit silence of those trade Unionists. The Militantancy of unions workers whiling away the time and the helpless of the management to take disciplinary action because of it’s prolonged nature and unhelpful labour laws and the Industrial Charter of Pub. Sector units telling that profit motivation is not a goal , all made Public Sector Industries go loss making despite good efforts by Officers.and workers who did contribute. That was said as failure of Public Sector industries;the privatization drama started R.Ponnambalam
