Globalization was pushed down the throats of countries like india and china by the US. They adapted and competed well, and now the US wants to abandon its own policy and go back to protectionism.
Nothing fair about what your president is doing. If you want to be fair, then remove the excessive subsidy that your agriculture enjoys and see what happens when you actually compete.

Our domestic market is so big, that all the companies should start looking inwards to satisfy Indian customers. It is understood that all companies have borrowed heavily and hence they need higher margin that they will not get in India. But if US and other country does not want to trade equitably with us, given the enormous benefit they have reaped over the years, i say , to hell with them. We need to invest in small scale industries and Pop & Mom shops, which are the bread and butter even in developed countries. Yes the first 10years will be a "Bi-tch", but things will eventually turn around. I am not saying stop all your exports, i am saying start looking in-wards at your fellow countrymen. We also deserve good quality product. Start with Tea and Coffee please.
So far, all good stuff is exported in the category of 'EXPORT QUALITY'. Now, indians will get to use good quality products if exports cease to take away all superior quality products.
The malady called 'EXPORT QUALITY' was introduced by the british raj where they used to take away all the best produce of India and leave the second and 3rd rated products unfit for human consumption.
Even today, after 7 decades after British rule, we do not leave this sickness called 'EXPORT QUALITY' as if Indians do not deserve to consume good stuff.
