Saudia has got plenty of waste land
by brian crasto on Jul 04, 2018 11:28 AM

I am surprising that though Saudia Arabia has got lot of waste land that is desert, they can easily set up refining units. But why they want greenery of Maharashtra to be partially destroyed. Refining doesnt add value, though they may create some jobs as refining industry require minimum labor as the operating units are almost automated. I heard money bags are buying land in these areas leaving the poor villagers in a mess

WHAT ? NO REFINERY ON WHAT COAST ?? NONSENSE

Two refineries in Mumbai, HPCL and BPCL

One refinery in Mangalore, MRPL

One refinery in Kochi, BPCL

Not forgetting refineries at Vadodara IOCL and Jamnagar, Reliance and Essar.

BTW the total refining capacity of India i greater than the demand !!!

The HPCL refinery in Mumbai is long past its use by date. It is totally obsolete and does not have the space to grow.

The BPCL refinery in Mahul too is beginning to face these same issues.

Both have to be moved out of Mumbai in the interests of reducing emission levels in Mumbai city.

The Ratnagiri refinery is conceptualised as a replacement for both the refineries in Mumbai.

However, your point that Indias refining capacity now exceeds total demand is right.

Dhabol
by rajeshrana on Jun 26, 2018 06:41 PM

I remember demise of Dhabol project then my arguement was if we are unable to invest specially for power as it was highly essential why we dont allow it to continue ?Idont remember what happened to that but a country with such bast resorces should not import bullet trains instead develop our own ,may be with less speed.
