Just like only an Indian citizen (no NRI) can be a prime minister, president, chief justice etc., the same criteria, law should also be in place for the RBI governor, CEA etc Only then, its sanctity is realized. How will an NRI care for India? Can Arvind become a CEA in the US?
because of modi govt...all sane strong minded individuals who cant stand lies and helping frauds will leave at some time...despite warnings and reasoning and showing how they are following wrong policies which will destroy nation when they are not heeded such individuals will leave...be it rajan or this arvind or anybody else only bootlicers like urjit will stay...but a time will come when even they will revolt..thats why many people are leaving bjp alliance and party itself badly disillusioned...
He must have quit because of he wouldn't like to be part of something bigger coming up. Just like his friend Raghuram Rajan didn't agree to some terms for an extension and decided to exit. This guy decided to exit for something bigger and similar coming up in few months on economy front.
its been wrong on the part of this government to employ all the people on holiday from usa. they do not take responsibility and also may not understand india and indian business after staying so long in usa.they will go after holiday is over.

They must have come to their wits' end and realised that it was not worth continuing any longer. Before they are sidelined by the political class, they must have thought it wise to quit with respect.
