Walmart will dump all the kachra in India'
by susarla suryaprakasam on Jun 08, 2018 07:38 PM  | Hide replies

Do they deserve any better. India with a 500 million population below the average line of satisfactory life, are fit for all sorts of junk like a 2 lakh car vs. 2 crore car. At least, let them taste in their lifetime a so called.

Holier than thou attitude !
by Sumeer Sharma on Jun 08, 2018 07:55 AM

Khandelwal is trying to make out the retailers as martyrs whereas it is not so. Sharp business practices, over pricing, under cutting on the quality by selling inferior goods, refusing to replace the faulty goods have been the hall mark of Indian retail industry for decades. What to talk of retailers even big names of the auto industry had been dumping kachra on the consumers for decades and getting away with it.The market was just waiting for such an intruder and here are Wallmart, Amazon with Ikea close on their heels. And why not ! The Indian consumer has been cheated for far too long by Indian manufacturers and traders alike. Now they must face the music and pay the price.

Online Trade is already into it
by Kiran Kumar on Jun 08, 2018 06:40 AM  | Hide replies

if you look at various online shopping apps most of the stuff being sold in India, specially electronic goods, is foreign scrap. May it be laptops, mobiles, pen-drives etc; everything is being dumped here. And the apps which are of Chinese origin are fully dedicated to this set up. As they would push the products being manufactured in China only. One can even buy Chinese Brooms and Undergarments as well. In near future from your Chaddi to Gaddi everything will have a Chinese Stamp.

The govt. is making some sincere effort to push Start-Ups and Young Entrepreneurs but the problem is we need conducive Legal and Social set up as well. People need to accept the Made in India products, it may not be fully furnishes/polished initially but a contribution to new start-ups provides further opportunity to the young minds to improve upon the things.

We are definitely bad consumers. When it comes to States with high income there has been massive wastage of goods and food in the name of High Society or Modern Society. We need to check wastage of resources otherwise we will become economic slaves to China.

The issue is quite broader and the problem can be solved only by the people with their own prudent action.

I agree with you that people should feel happy with Made in India goods rather than Make in India/imported. Our government should take all measures to see that we make goods in India with whatever raw material we have, for the sake of developing indigenous goods. We should put emblems on the products Made in India instead of proud to use goods with emblems as Made in x country or y country. In fact we should ban such items.
The present government has opened the flood gates for foreigners to Make in India. We cannot blame the foreign agencies, who are in the job.
Why can we not live with items Made in India? In fact the government should force the citizens to desist from using foreign goods and encourage using Made in India goods. This will help developing our skills to make India and one day we can expect competing with other nations goods. In fact, our goods will be purchased by few foreign countries initially, if we give trade concessions. Even Government should insist government organisations to use items made in India and penalise those, who violate the government orders. If there is a will, there is a way.
For improving our quality of products, we should retain the skilled people without being allowed to go abroad, so that their knowledge can be made use to accelerate not only quality but competitiveness. This will help generate lot of employment, which is the need of the hour. Where there is a will, there is a way.
Jai Hind. Jai Bharat.

DUmping of China goods
by Sudarshan Nityananda on Jun 07, 2018 06:00 PM  | Hide replies

Mr Khandelwal ignores the fact that CHina goods are already widespread in India and most Desi traders do a roaring business in them. So Walmart doing the same is no big deal. As long as these goods appear cost effective to our buyers , they will sell, as they are selling in the US , Europe, SE Asia etc.

If Chinese products are kacra, Indians are already living in a heap of kachra as most Indian products are assembled with parts imported from China and just over priced compared to similar quality product from China.

if it is said Walmart will dump all Kaqchraa items, tell me what do the Indian traders do. Every item one will find is adulterated. Also who has sold to Walmart? An Indian group and purely for lure of money.
