GST may be OK?
by V Nagarajan on Jul 09, 2018 08:51 AM

GST may be OK but its implementation is not OK.
Khadi & Village Industries are charged 18% GST. This must go.Except IMFL, Cigarettes,Soft drinks,Fuel etc ,for the other things GST must be less than 10%. For Small scale, Micro and mini Industries it must be exempt.

That is true. But certain things like filing of data, Reverse charge, Credit from Import Gst and matching of credits (Gstr 2) still need to be resolved. Also they should allow to rectify errors made during filing.

If GST on liquor and Petrol is imposed, all the state govts will lose huge easy income which they collect as VAT and the central govt. will also lose some income. So it is basically the state govts. which are not interested in it rather than the central govt.. so get your facts right before giving your biased views here. Improve your knowledge before coming on public forums

It is not the question of honest or dishonest person. It is the question of how much transparent the government is when it comes to furnishing details of GST performance.

Please ask a simple question 'How well is the GST doing "

instead of trying to put your words in the reader's mouth by saying
"Is the curated and limited data put out by the central government sufficient enough to pass a judgement on the trend in GST collections, particularly that of the Centre?"

And who is going to pass the judgement ? The Opposioon parties ?

It is a new system
by Satheesh KR on Jul 03, 2018 08:26 AM  | Hide replies

It is a new system which is also very complex considering size of our country. The electronic media & the opposition wants to show results within year and that too perfect result. It will take some time to settle down and start showing results. Even now people who wants to cheat are cheating, but once we have enough data these cheters can be controlled and they will also have no choice than paying GST. Give the government some time.

Also GST helped a lot to the logistics companies & truck drivers in reducing the time spent in check posts.

Fruits of GST will start coming from 2020 onward, when almost all will turn to sell all goods through cashmemos. By that time, all initial problems will also be wiped out.
GST has become a tool in the hands of opposition to spread hate for Modi govt. due to arrogance of FM.
