News papers use newsprint or paper for which trees are cut down. Further it require transportation in fossil fuel burning vehicles. Thus they have a huge carbon footprint. They profit from advertisements for which the country pays the price. Therefore the sooner we switch over to TV and other non print mass media the better. That's the trend the world over except in India where the governments have been subsidizing them with liberal quotas and ads.
