Over last 10 years, some of the stocks made investors super rich. Similar is the story of some mutual funds. However, what is the meaning of sensex when its composition today and 10 years back are very different. Imagine if Unitech and others were retained in today's sensex as 10years back, then the sensex would be very low today.

A related story would be "how many companies have made investors into paupers".
It's always very nice to look at the big winners, but they would be < 5% of the universe. There may be another 20 - 30%, which would have given consistent & moderate returns, but the remaining 60 - 70% would have wiped out the people's investment.
We should not get carried away by such stories because they incite the greed in us and are used by unscrupulous brokers/ wealth advisors to get us to make wrong decisions.
