May be Finance ministry contemplating abolishment of DDT which is welcome, but if it proposes to tax it in the hands of shareholders,it causes unhappiness for lakhs of small investors who might not be filing income tax returns but would be compelled to file due to this.Instead Govt may retain DDT but with reduced rate to please both Companies and investors/shareholders with no income tax to be paid by recipient's.if at all govt propose to tax the dividends make dividends up to 1 lakh tax free, and 10% tax up to 3 lakhs,20% up to 5 lakhs dividend and 30% above 5 lakhs dividend ,otherwise investors/equity holders feeling equity investment as most attractive definitely feel unhappy and market mood would not be positive if dividends are taxed henceforth.
