Prices of vegetables
by arungopal agarwal on Feb 12, 2018 05:12 PM

Do not agree with the writer, prices are almost the same of course with variations of season.
One should not forget as govt. servants get DA linked salary, similarly labour cost everywhere is increasing, as such vendors margin are going up.

MARKET PRICE Vs FARMER INCOME
by kulbir labana on Feb 12, 2018 04:41 PM

There is no relationship between the market prices and what the consumer actually gets.
Today a farmer ii western UP is getting Rs 200/- only for his potato crop. The market price is many times higher. All the money is pocketed by middlemen. This is where the Government should come in.

Onion, potato and tomato prices
by Magadi Raghunath on Feb 11, 2018 08:03 PM

IT does not really matter if F&V prices go up and the farmers benefit for a change. But most of the times they get a raw deal whether the prices go north or south. The government of the day is seldom able to do anything to prevent it. Long lasting items like onions and potatoes can be controlled to some extent by import/export, but the government machinery is normally too slow to respond. I hate to say this, but seldom do F&V prices reflect the true cost of cultivation. Land rent, own labor, borrowed capital cost are never included in computing cost of cultivation.
So, how can the farmer get a truly remunerative price like an industrially produced commodity?

Under NDA rule the prices of all commodities have come down significantly. Under UPA Govt. I had purchased onion for Rs.90.00 per Kilo. Udad Daal at Rs.220 per Kg.Tur Daal Rs. 180 per Kg. You name the item which were cheaper than the present price. Total lie propaganda against the NDA Govt. Disgusting.
