40,000 and LTCG

Instead of doing these two, if deficit would have been packed at 3.5% instead of 3.2%, heaven would not be falling on India, no one will remember FM if BJP is out of power.

Budget 10% LTCG tax

This will adversely affect the investors who used fundamentals for their investment. The market has two objectives: one is investment opportunity to public and the other is gaining from speculation. Now that the benefits hitherto enjoyed by long term investors has been snatched, the investment objective of the equity is sidelined and speculative transactions are encouraged.

Taxing profit over 1 lakh
by jkj on Feb 01, 2018 11:12 PM  | Hide replies

Calculation in example of 1.2 lacks profit appears to be faulty. If profit over 1 lakh is to be taxed then only 20000 = (120000-100000) will be taxes @ 10% . This means only 2000 tax.
