It is ironic that we have to show and prove the conditions of our jail to British judge. Mallya is a criminal par excellence. He has planned everything in cool brain like any other criminal. He should be treated like all other criminals in the country.Anyway let us get him here first.
Jail in any country is for giving a lawful punishment for crime/offence committed by the jail inmate. If Mallya does ultimately go into an Indian jail, he must be made to use the loos used by other jail inmates, use similar bed, eat similar food, accept similar natural light etc. If this govt.agrees to do such special things for Mallya, it would be an injustice to all other inmates. The govt. can, however, condescend till Mallya is in India and thereafter with new notifications/GR etc. the facilities can be withdrawn or modified. In fact, considering the many lives destroyed by Mallya through KFA, he should also clean up his own loo as a part of punishment.

UK may have its own prison standards, but these can be applied only for imprisonment in UK.
It is ridiculous to for the UK to expect other nations to conform to its own prison standards.
I liked the suggestion of reader @Kanu Mukerji -- if the UK govt is so concerned about prison conditions of Mallya, let Mallya's sentence be appropriately converted into monetary terms, and ask the UK to pay up that amount. It will save India the cost of providing 5-Star Hotel Treatment to Mallya, and avoid questions of inequality and special treatment for undeserving vips.

@Suresh: Excellent point. When the British ruled India, did they extend to Indians their own standards of judicial processes, their own standards of legal rights, and their own standards of prison?

The only assurance India should give to the UK is that India will extend the same prison standards to Mallya, as the British themselves extended to all their subjects across the world during the their colonial heydays.
