T N Ninan babu , are u criticing the Govt or praising it. Probably u had done good analysis earlier of Congress regime Ministers and gauged their work also. U also seem to have a syndrome of spitting sweet venom in the form of sarcasm in ur words. We like articles by rediff team who actually were back benchers in academics . We need core team of professionals in each department who can manage a given set of projects in different states and see to that it is completed on time and budget, talk to diff other ministries whose help is required in sorting out any issues relating to the project like environment, power, waterways etc. First concentrate on the small ones which are helpful for the people like building bridges, drainage along the river so water is not polluted by mixing sewage and drinking water. Making easier for people to get govt documents like birth/death certificates, approvals for plan, service centers, utility payment service, bus/train ticketing service etc. Medical facility, education services, logistics The more you provide services to the people near their place wins more warmth and votes in future. Or even improve the existing infra of the rural areas.
Acquisition of land for construction of either road or rail is the biggest problem as well as time consuming. More chances for people' protest and litigation. Once done, again leveling the surface is another problem as it consumes more time for stability - tightening the loose soil etc. After that it would be easier and could be done quickly.
Constructing concrete road..is the worst idea..when whole world relies on butimen road..which causes less accident..less tyre busts..n is much cost effective..this purti minister has shares in lots of cement company..n is the worst minister

The whole interstate highway system of the US is built on concrete roads. You don't know what you are talking about.

You sing your song. I will enjoying safe drive on these roads. Only FOOLS drive at speeds beyond prescribed by NHAI and blame the minister. Man follow the norms. We do not have enough money to maintain bitumen roads. At least appreciate the efforts and intention for speed with which he worked.
