SBI's Arundhati Bhattacharya

I am ware of the efficiency of Arundhati of SBI. I had the privilege of auditing her Branch when she was the Branch Manager of Kharagpur Branch in those turbulent days of the unruly so called Award Staff, who for overtime would do anything to disrupt the Bank's work and customers would suffer. In fact they had turned off the water supply to the Branch and the award staff disrupted customer service. She was cool enough to take it in her stride and solve the problem as the award staff were simmering and there was no disruption in the work.I had given her an efficiently run rating. In those days the inspection rating played a factor in the assessment of the Officer. The leader of the Unions in Bengal Circle was one Dutta and he played havoc and caused untold misery and agony to the the Officer cadre. But Arundhati faced and overcame all that and went on to lead India's largest bank.May she get a good post retirement assignment if she is willing to serve the country.May be RBI Governor or a good position in the Ministry of Finance,or else where in the realm of finance and banking. if she is willing.Sujoy Ghosh,Kolkata

Also for reducing interest rates on savings accounts, and for introducing minimum balance of 5K!

Who cares for the needy when we have bullet trains and oversize dams!

how about giving loans to scamsters, swindling innocent peoples hard earned money, and not taking any action on people like Mallay's. Truly unfortunate we had such people heading prestigious organisations.

SBI USED TO MEAN FRIENDLY, ASSURING PLACE FOR TRANSACTING MONEY.
WITH THIS LADY IT HAS COME TO MEAN A HOSTILE, ANTI CUSTOMER SBI WHICH WANTS TO PREDATE ON YOUR SB AND FD RETURNS. PUNISH YOU WITH ILLOGICAL PENALATIES. QUARRELSOME UNDER TRAINED STAFF, TRYING TO MAKE YOU BUY MUTUAL FUNDS OR INSURANCE(LITERALLY PUSHING IT DOWN YOUR THROAT.
sHE WILL SURELY BE REMEMBERED FOR MAKING TRANSACTIONS EXPENSIVE, CHANRGING EXCESSIVELY FOR POS MNNACHINES.
MY EMPLOYES WILL REMEMBER HER FOR STEALING THEIR MONEY IN NAME OF PENALATIES.

While it may be true, the same is across all banking sector, be it public sector or even private sector. HDFC bank already had rotten customer service. Banks like ICICI and Axis have also gone downhill. One reason being cutting down of manpower.

As in most cases, the credit for all positives or criticism for all negatives should not be attributed to the top person. That would undermine the contribution of the while team

Arundhati Bhattacharya as SBI Chairman
by P S SHAH on Sep 18, 2017 09:55 AM

She will be remembered for the highest NPA of the bank, taking anti customer decisions, not improving behaviour and attitude of bank staff and not taking any steps fro improving customer relations and customer satisfaction. No doubt, SBI is the largest bank of India after merger but that is not enough.
