Why copete with China & Japan for bullet train.
The fares shall be equal to or more then air fare. Who will be able to afford? People have enough time and those in a hurry can always travel by air. Why waste public money on BT. What we need are more trains & new routes. Make the existing train system more safe.

What you ask is very reasonable. But investment in new technology will result in improvement in rail infrastructure in rest of the country. Initial costs are usually high, but as time progress, the lessons learned with this new technology will help our own industries to build better, faster and safer trains and technology that will be both dual use and cost sensitive too. To quote, the technology used in ISROs satellites (Battery) is being used to build Electric Cars.

what is the route

Let Modi Goyal & Phadnvis first decide the route & location of stations. In India it is not a question of speed of the train, it is a question of land & such. Already people want Kapurbawadi & such locations as stations. If there are halts every 25 kilometers, then what is the use of bullet train?

Just like most high speed trains, these bullet trains will be mostly point to point or with very few stops. They will mostly run on the existing tracks that will be upgraded for high speed traction. Note, these are not MagLev trains, these are still the same rail based technology, just much streamlined and faster. Once these rails are relaid, Our existing trains can use the same tracks and run at-least 30% faster with no further investment.

Bullet trains are welcome in India sans daily derailment of trains.

Absolutely. These trains require rework on the existing rails. It needs to be upgraded to support the new wheels that run on them.
