So far the performance given by the Indian small, medium and large scale industries to win the heart of the people in India by way of implementing PM's Make in India program with the great success to prove ample opportunities to solve unemployment problem which is so called is a burning issue to the young generation in India.

India needs to develop the profession of thinkers instead of limiting itself to the professions of workers and managers.

Indian businessmen do not work by national inspiration but by short term calculations of profit or loss. Genuine indigenisation will never come from the private business sector of India, but could come if some scheme is created to enable ordinary students, teachers, scientists, and engineers to start building really big things themselves without waiting for a business company to join or take them.

Private sector involvement
by Clear Mind on May 26, 2017 12:16 PM  | Hide replies

India's private sector is highly incompetent to handle defence related technology development. The main reason is that the only customer is the Govt and till now the customer wasn't there for companies to flourish. It will take a long time before private companies in India can develop to that level.

Private Indian companies cannot deal with government except through direct and indirect corruption. Independent development of technology is not possible due to that. It is only capable of carrying on the manufacture of available technologies, but not its own original research to create a usable new product series.

There is no way to change the nature of relationships between businessmen and politicians in India.

It is impossible to create a truly honest and independent network of scientific and technical people to carry out technology development projects on a large scale. Modern weapons require a great deal of development work, which is not possible on the very small scale of research that private sector is willing to do.

Do you know how long Lockheed and Boeing were in existence. They have a long history of working for the US Govt. India will take a long time to create a Lockheed Martin.
