obor
by raj bhatia on May 14, 2017 11:32 PM

it is good India is keeping away. There are many issues yet to be clear on OBOR, reply to which is also not known to China even. Things are yet to unfold and there is still time with India to form a strategy and strengthen its bargaining power on CPEC also. Potential Financial benefits are told to participating countries - but hidden objectives will be known to smaller countries, once they realise the clout & weight of china.

India ON not participating in OBOR
by akuthota sumitra bharati on May 13, 2017 12:04 PM

What is the big deal ,if India not attending the OBOR meet @ Beijing. When India has reservations about the soveriegnity issue ,like the OBOR passes thru Giljit,Baltistan of POK which India claims is our land.We must show our resent by not participating in the event.Let the whole world and China view it as Indias considerable flex of its muscle and strength when it comes to the issues with pakistan and china.Dont forget that India is second biggest trading partner with China with $ 100 billion dollors trade.China can not ignore India. Also we see China getting softer with India on core issues. We should obsorve how pakistan is going to bite itself due to OBOR.Many International Economists and critics say that OBOR/CPEC will drag pakistan into huge debt crisis.

When once we have decided against participating in the OBOR summit which starts tommorrow in Beijing,we should stick to our stand, and not dither.US & Japan by sending their official delegation to the OBOR, have let down India. The western countries,Japan,ROK,Australia,Canada have not signed the OBOR,but sent their delegations. 40 countries have signed and delegations of 100 countries are attending, India is the only one missing. US under Trump is a mystery, in his pre-election speeches daily he would rant on China,& now their leaders are best friends.

India should have joined OBOR!
by Anup Halarnkar on May 13, 2017 01:39 AM

By joining OBOR, India could have forced China to reconsider its development strategy in POK as well as negotiate on other disputed territories. In this way, China could have lost an upper hand over India and instead look towards India as a strategic partner more than Pakistan.
Well the Indian government must have its own reasons to opt out of OBOR!!
