During the early days after its introduction in India Vespa was so popular that you had to order for one and wit six to 9 mnths for the delivery. Subsequently the Indian arm of the company brought out a model called Chetak and for that the waiting time between order and delivery was more than a year. I used to be a proud owner of a Vespa Bajaj Chetak until my doctors put a blanket ban on kick start scooters after my 1995 heart surgery.

for your info, waiting period was not 6-9 months but years. I remember my uncle waiting 6 and a half years for getting VESPA SCOOTER.
