The world would beat us hollow unless we change ourselves.
by kalyan nandi on Mar 18, 2017 05:12 PM

Democracy is alien to Indian psyche. It has bred for us politics of intrigues, half truth and utter lies, hypocracy, and meanness of all sorts. The rest of the world think of us as a bunch of rascals incapable to stand upright. No wonder other countries would beat us hollow.

Why compare with China
by Satheesh KR on Mar 18, 2017 04:32 PM

Not sure why we compare ourselves with China. They are way ahead of us in everything we do. They have their own search engines, chat applications, few well known mobile brands.

by Partha on Mar 17, 2017 02:03 PM

These days media including online media, acts like cheerleaders. On every issue comparison between China and India is publicised. Why? China along with Rusiian countries comprise the Second world, whereas India is in third world. China's GDP is 11 trillion USD whereas India's GDP is 2 trillion USD.

Compared to India China is a highly developed country .And why should there be comparison on everything with China ? From agriculture , technology , space , military , to the sports field and factories India cannot match them .And economy ? Don't even raise the subject They don't even bother about such remarks and contemptuously ignore them .The whole world respects them . And India ? Carry on peddling Ahimsa and spiritualism and get beaten up and killed by all and sundry abroad .

We need 30-40 years of 6-7%(current growth) to reach where China is right now and even that requires a lot of work and overcoming lot of problems.

True.

But how many middle class Indians, who keep comparing China and India and try to fool themselves that India will soon *overtake* China, care to look at the reality ?

We are far behind China
by R ponnabalam on Mar 17, 2017 12:26 PM  | Hide replies

Visit China once to know how far we lack behind>China is a much richer stronger in every respect inculuding respecting a fellow countryman. No use envying China.China is a Big Power , is not taken for granted is not for nothing They are the workshop of the world. We are workshop of pretensions displaying unfavourable balance of trade thinking that is our job and not doing things to avoid unfavourable balance of trade. The dress ,health of people on the road, the roads , the cleanliness is of higher order.Unless we face facts accept we would be left behind more. We don't accept History that Babur is an invader and his rule as foreign as the British.Like that we don't accept China's higher standing and try to improve our's only at our cost R.Ponnambalam

We do not need to visit China. We are accepting their growth more in comparison with our India. But their growth is with communism our own growth rate with our democracy. In communism, it easier to take dissension, finalise things. No opposition from administration as well as from citizens. In democracy, we have value for opposition, public feelings. We can't compromise with our democracy.
In other hand, just smart ownership doesn't indicate growth rate of a country. Specifically increasing in smart phone ownership in India will strengthen China because most of the smart phones are manufactured in China.

Where was China 30 years back?. Much poorer than India. Point to ponder how it had achieved such tremendous growth in a short time. main reason their political leaders. As long as india political leaders are behaving as now, there is no chance for India to compete China at all.now or future

Who told you we dont accept China is far ahead ? Maybe you only realized only recently. Everyone knows China is way ahead in every parameter. China is closer to becoming a developed nation while India is still at the bottom even among developing countries.

A good Sign for developing economy
by Sandeep Rajan on Mar 17, 2017 12:08 PM  | Hide replies

At least we have a substantial room for improvement and advancement in the economy. If China is irked with India in current situation we should believe that China would be taken for a ride when we come close to the figures currently China hold.
