My layman's view

Many wise people have predicted many great things for India's future.

I feel that one crucial pre-condition is not being given enough importance: speedy justice delivery system.

I feel that the importance of this is far, far greater than any economic reforms, for taxes or jobs.

Only a speedy justice system can inspire confidence among corporates (for litigations) as well among civil society (for crime control).

Something drastic needs to be done to improve the current state of affairs by several orders of magnitude.

One suggestion: perhaps we should have a separate wing of the judiciary, and separate hierarchy of courts to dispose our HUGE backlog, while continuing with current judicial infrastructure for new and recent cases.
