Small savings Intt redn_Old men suffer vis-a-vis Govt Pensioners
by Malay DasGupta on Jul 05, 2017 04:32 AM

Old/ retired people other than Govt Pensioners suffer with every cut in Small Savings Interest rates. Inflation is a reality. In this background, Govt Pensions are DA protected and thus go up and returns from Small Savings on which other old people are dependent on go down over time. Aren't the men in power (the bureaucracy) protecting their self interest vis-a-vis others?
In the least, interest rate on small savings should be fixed (and not floating) e.g. the recent PM Vaya Vandana Yojana or the even better the Annuity schemes where the returns at least do not go down during lifetime. This way, the planning of the old people will not go haywire.
