RBI governor post
by Bharat Kumar on Feb 11, 2017 06:26 PM

That demonetization will damage would have been clear as daylight to Raghuram Rajan, his silence on the subject is eloquent enough.
Former governor Reddy spoke his mind very clearly. Reddy saved the country when Chidambaram's hormones were playing with him :)

Urjit Patel, a Manmohan Singh recruit regime recruit, couldn't put his foot down with the same firmness, was probably bullied into the decision. He has spent time enough time in the country, but only in offices. Like most expats, he must be spending his holidays away from India. One gets a feel of the country and the economy, only from social participation - college study, social work, political discussions all help form a framework in the mind and develop cognizance of the country.

RBI AND GOVT
by tejindar singh on Feb 11, 2017 06:03 PM  | Hide replies

The stature of RBI suffered a setback the way Govt and RBI handled the demontz fiasco. This was because the Gov of RBI buckled under Govt pressure. This is in line with the Govt policy of interfering with the indep institutions whether it was IIM, IIT, Judiciary and now RBI

Have you heard of Subbarao RBI gov? He was thrown out by Chidambaram for not toeing UPA line. Do you know this? RRrajan time saw corporate NPA rised uncontrollably. The uncontrollable fake notes, RBI officials collusion with fake notes, same serial number used in two notes from same RBI during RRrajan period brought his credibility down long back. you were sleeping.

SECRECY COMPROMISED...?????
by renju gopal on Feb 10, 2017 10:40 AM

what about the connections between the two RBI board members and Mahindra and TATA groups? Going through their bio data the decision to demonetization should have reached the bussiness circles well before.

The author has glossed over too many known facts in order to try and prove his point that RBI could not have done better during the demonitisation fiasco. He appears to pretend that he is being objective but then lets the cat out of the bag when he claims, without any basis, that demonitisation has actually been accepted by the public without much problem and, uncharitably, lumps all critics together as "Modi bashers". Sorry Professor, your slip is showing !!!

Mr. Chandra common public any choice not to accept/critize this demonetization. who may be did it either govt. or RBI but public have to accept and accepted then why you people are only praising govt why you have not favour to public. common middle class and below middle class or poor people have any black money to critize. You may well aware that the deposited amount from common public are all accounted money and not black money. Those who have black money namely politicians, business man, builders, have not suffered because their money has already whited without taking trouble only you and me have suffered. Are you a salaried person and you are not paying income tax and cant you keep some money for emergency funds if yes then you are only praising Modi what he did extra for salaried people. Please stop this anti public and be act like a gentleman. when 1000/500 is high value then what about of 2000 is a small value which was replace. There are many questions I never bothered of business man, builders and politicians but to realize what exactly happened. forget all this I visited Chandigarh last week but I have never get any money from ATM. Security people will say money will come after 12 noon I west 1 pm then also I never get ATM money. No common man are against demonetization but some how cooperated but people like knows only praising Modi and nothing else. Please stop such think and be act like gentleman.

"Demonetization has actually been accepted by the public"

Are you aware what happened with Babul Suprio(BJP MP) and his assistant.
Many incidents,likewise, have gone unnoticed.
