ECONOMY 2018
by sayta narayana on Dec 26, 2017 02:49 PM

It is high time that BJP GOVT makes a Task Force by pooling all economists from all corners of India /NRI 's to draft an Immediate action Plan when INDIAN ECONOMY in in ICU. Immediate Surgery is most warranted instead of looking for 2019 Election Results

The economists are not looking into areas which demand attention
by auryas on Dec 26, 2017 02:26 PM  | Hide replies

The economists are not looking into areas which actually contribute to the decline of the economy.

The Real Estate of INdia.

Indian economy is stuck in over priced real estate for eternity. If you look at the city of Mumbai alone, the increase in real estate prices in this city pretty much mopped any inflow of money during the last 20 years. Other cities too.

And most of the government banks are in red to day because of the real estate.

if the economists focus in the Real estate of India, they will get answers to the question why Indian economy will go to dogs in the next decade.

The so called twin shocks
by auryas on Dec 26, 2017 02:21 PM

There is a strong opinion among ordinary citizens that the hullabaloo about GST and DeMo is more political rather than real.

People who used to evading taxes due to many a loop holes in earlier tax regime are disgruntled due to to the GST. Because now there is no escape. Sure there are improvisations that the government says it will implement in due course. But making GST as evil of the economy is stupidity.

Demonetization too has been unjustly given bad press by those forces who have wads of currency in their closets. It is a concoction of disgruntled netas and businessmen of shady dealing, politics and a media complicity which made this cocktail of DeMon.

Hard to envisage
by auryas on Dec 26, 2017 02:09 PM

Hard to envisage why the author concluded that the short term loss due to DeMo has outweighed the long term prospects of reduced corruption ?

Sure we have some ( not a lot) of data on specific sectors that suffered because of lack of cash transactions. But as every one agrees this is informal sector ( read : Grey sector) whose transactions are not open to scrutiny or assessment or analysis. Every thing about this so called 'INFORMAL' sector is shady. Except for some meaningless bottom line numbers, no one know the production, sales, profits , tax or even cost of operations of these INFORMAL sectors.

To label DeMo evil because it prevented the INFORMAL sector's shady operations and thus people lost their jobs because scarcity of liquid cash is not a proper argument at all.

Even in 3rd world countries in South , Central Americas and Asia are adopting to digital economy but we in INdia seem to consciously encouraging under the table dealings and shady market place.

Why should there be an Informal sector at all ? How hard is it for a small time tannery or a textile or a SoHo based company to get a corporate credit card or Internat account and transact ? We are not living in 1985. Right ?

Good article, but problems faced are BJP created by FM, executing agency are govt. servants, who fail everyone, as they are not mentally ready to keep pace with govt. changed over policies. Our FM has branded every citizen tax evader he has given total control to govt. servants-who make all laws one sided and to mint money.
Notebandi-people have forgotten, GST-still needs many corrections. Biggest correction is needed DA linked pension to politicians and govt, servants which is always increasing and eating biggest budget chunk, whereas carry home of every senior citizen has come down due to lower rate of interest and rental. Govt. is not dare enough to take this correction and save few thousand crores.
