It is great that Govt. has extended the date for registering Aadhaar with bank and other services upto 31st March of next year. However, decision of Apex court about its validity is still open for final decision. Extension only will not serve the required purpose as banks and others are still not fit to do the necessary registration as they are yet to make relevant changes in software after deciding the policy which has not been done so far. They are just sending notices by mail & SMSs about the requirement . This shows that they have not exactly understood its requirements and have not taken effective steps for compliance. It is necessary that the authorities required to implement the notifications and aplied there mind as they may be awaiting final verdict of Apex court to finally take appropriate decision and action to do only one time and not incur unnecessary expenditure in view of tight position and competition in industry. Therefore early verdict of Apex court is desired for clarity and final implementation. Extentions will not serve the purpose but software adjustments for several accounts is essential as they have only arrangement for linking one Aadhaar number with only one account and in the present circumstances on trying to links more accounts will delink the already linked account several years earlier. The newly added requirement for linking PPF a/cs also has created problem as the system is not designed for that and bank refuse to link those accounts.
