Harish Manwani
the so-called entrenched elite
by Harish Manwani on Aug 10, 2017 12:15 PM  | Hide replies

"As a result, India's entrenched elite, which is a class of people with a strong sense of entitlement, is being tamed." Sanyal does not realize, or pretends not to realize that many in the set up now in power will consider him as belonging to this entrenched class!

He is endowed so you may feel him belonging to entrenched class. But mind you - he broke the myth and sided with alternate view on history, economics, etc. to challenge these established elites. Notwithstanding his own eliteness which he has earnestly earned and not got out of manipulation or entitlement.

Termination of dynastic power centres
by Ashim Ghosh on Aug 09, 2017 07:37 AM

By 2030 hopefully dynastic power centres will crumble. Also India will be reasonably better place to live. Congress, communist caste parasites will diminish.

Parasite Sanyal
by Inzzy on Aug 07, 2017 07:23 PM

He is nothing but a parasite who has come to feast on the pickings offered by this Govt to anyone who sings it's praises. Another person Rajiv Kumar the new VC of Niti Aayog has got this position thanks to the articles he has written in praise of Demonitization. Sanyal has made ludicrous comments like Demonitization was a shock signal & to put everyone on notice that Modi is in power. He has also gone on to support Yogi who is floundering in UP thanks to zero administrative skills & focus on non issues like gau rakshaks. If this chap can leave his Singapore job & come here it is only to suck the blood of the poor & create chaos.

Medieval times...?
by Anup Halarnkar on Aug 07, 2017 02:02 PM  | Hide replies

Meaning of medieval = uncivilized, primitive, etc
Do you mean to say that social mobility was present in medieval times and not present in civilized times in Hindu empires??
Social mobility=yatras to holy destinations, also visits by village folk to other villages for functions, marriages, religious get together??? what else does social mobility mean?

In todays world, social mobility is limited to pictures, videos of distant relatives and friends rather than getting together and experiencing togetherness

Social mobility does not mean moving from one place to another.

It means poor people becoming middle class, middle class people becoming rich. Basically changing the lives of themselves, and their children for generations. Social mobility was seen under kingdoms like the vijayanagar empire, maratha empire, mughal empire etc. in medieval times.
