Subsidy of Recap?Is it needed?
by R ponnabalam on Dec 23, 2017 01:42 PM

, Bhagwatiji and Panagariya said that there was no need for any subsidies as the benefits would percolate ultimately".How would one call or term the recapitalization banks" about which RBI mourns that the C.E.Os .of banks are not taking actions against the defaulters when RBI itself is not taking action against the defaulting c.E.O.s .When a wprkman is not doing his job NO WORK NO PAY IS ENFOCED AND ACTION IS TAKEN WHY NOT that ON BANK C.E.E.O.sR.PONNAMBALAM

Give water and electricity to our farmers. They produce more what they consume. If you want to support more, give them cold storage and reasonable cost plus price. They do not like to beg for subsidies and depending on State and Central Governments for their development.Make them self sufficient and possibility of more productivity from their agricultural lands.
Demonetization, Taxing will have limited outcomes.
But will the Govt will ever realise ?

I have lost whatever little regard for this person. Coz. for him keeping his Univesrity job in USA was more important than heading NITI ayog. First of all he should not have been selected for the job. Anyway now that he has gone. good riddance. Enough of this half baked foreign returned intellectuals- who are more committed to their money and job in USA then anything else.

GDP has become an obsession. I am educated and have retired in a very senior position in a navratna public sector company and yet I do not fully understand GDP. I originally came from multinational company. Soon after way back in October 1982 I visited a predominantly adivasi village but having about 5/6 Brahmin families in Sambalpur district of Odisha. The whole effort was to make village self reliant with agriculture and small handicrafts with forest produce as raw material. I was very happy to see the village affairs were managed by the young from the village and they informed me that their income had grown three times in about 3-4 years time and they are not bothered about drought that used to occur quite often. Water need had been taken care of by building a small dam that arrested the water in a small stream nearby.

GDP growth drama statistics befools the poor man pretending to show that there is growth for ALL.With all the GDP growth there is no documented and analysed evidence to show how much the economic upliftment of the bottom low income earning 30% population had been there every year as against the GDP growth everyyear.I don't repeat what the research paper ofThomas Piketty and Lucas Chancel says.Foreigners are studying the result of our activities. Our Govt. is not doing it.That is a BIG MISTAKE on the part of the GOVT that it is not monitoring so as to effect control. As the ex. V.P. had said once in his address " the top 10 percent controlled about 74 percent of national wealth. The poorest 30 percent, meanwhile, had just 1.4 percent of the total wealth," Economicsdom writes GDP needs investing (not investment). What this 1.4% wealth of 30% people would invest to add to GDP growth as against the 74% national wealth with top 10%.So the GDP growth is only the rich top 10%ALL GOVTS.AND ECONOMICSDOM have been taking the country for a ride. Our Economicsdom had been EFFECTING ECONOMIC REFORMS FOR 30 Long years WITHOUT HAVING EFFECTED REFORM -WAYS TO RECOVER BANK LOANS.WHAT A REFORM.APPLAUD IT,R.PONNAMBALAM

The idiot Mahajan is criticising Panagariya for his western system. By the way who selected Panagariya, he did not come begging to the government to appoint him. It is difficult for learned intellectuals like Rajan,Panagariya,Subramaniam to work with such retards.

People in academics are good for teaching only. When it comes to practical knowledge they are zero. They are called experts but if you dont have practical knowledge their expertise is exposed. Rajan is only paper writer and lecture deliverer. Most of the job was done by upen patel that time. These people couldn't deliver on ground. They were exposing themselves as failures and had to quit to avoid further embarrassment.

Corporates and Bureaucracy.

Infrastructure projects like roads, Irrigation dams and Canals, Cold storage systems around the vicinity of agricultural production/collection centers and connective highways are most important aspects of Planning and development in the country. You call it being done by Ambani/Adani/Tata/Birla/Ruias are immaterial. we need to appreciate the efficiency and volumes created by Pvt sector in country's progress. when Ambani in private sector is able to get the world standard refining margin of 12 dollors a barrel compare it with our inefficient public sector giant white elephant IOC which has it at 5 dollars. Who pays for it and gets benefits from this inefficiency. Corporates are a must unless our basic attitude and dedication to duty changes like that of Japanese. Once in Govt service we look for only our rights and not duties- at whose cost?. The common peasant is finally paying for the luxuries and plentifulness of our bureaucracy.

The Public Sector policies and practices were with benign beliefs that were belied by the militant trade unionism. In stead of correcting that India went for market Economy. The simple rule of NO WORK NO PAY does good administrative sense. No shop in Govt. sector companies where this was implemented had failed.Don't privatize blindly, take the Unions to task.It is not that Unions cannot be controlled;difficulties were there. But nothing is unsurmountable with all that.Every Militant union had fallen in line whenever management had shown the mettle.A PVT.Company managing Director told me"We run the company;if any one doesn't want to work the way we want we cannnot work the way they want.We will close this company and start it anywhere else,You work with that in mind"A public Sector M.D.told the unions"Punishment cannot be escaped here."There was unimpeachable integrity behind all these.R.PONNAMBALAM

It took three full years for the BJP leadership to understand the difference between growth and development. It is good if more importance is given to improve the living standard of the common people and stop the mad rush after GDP figures. A shift from the corporate centric approach to people centric approach is welcome. In other words it is an endorsement of the idea of planned development followed by Jawaharlal Nehru in which top most priority is given to welfare of the poor.

What is wrong if the Govt. runs Public sector Industries instead of giving loans to the tune of Rs.44000 crores to a few companies. One percent of it is440 crores and 10% of it like that much talked about Mr.10% of another country is 4400 crores. Think of the cash velocity of these percentages and the loss to the nation.Should we perpetuate that?R.PONNAMBALAM
