Growth and Development
by Ravindran on Aug 07, 2017 05:27 PM  | Hide replies

It took three full years for the BJP leadership to understand the difference between growth and development. It is good if more importance is given to improve the living standard of the common people and stop the mad rush after GDP figures. A shift from the corporate centric approach to people centric approach is welcome. In other words it is an endorsement of the idea of planned development followed by Jawaharlal Nehru in which top most priority is given to welfare of the poor.

What is wrong if the Govt. runs Public sector Industries instead of giving loans to the tune of Rs.44000 crores to a few companies. One percent of it is440 crores and 10% of it like that much talked about Mr.10% of another country is 4400 crores. Think of the cash velocity of these percentages and the loss to the nation.Should we perpetuate that?R.PONNAMBALAM

#outsiders or insiders in NITI aayog
by Suram Verma on Aug 07, 2017 04:30 PM  | Hide replies

Planning commision to now NITI aayog, for the last six-seven decades have not achieved much for common people of the country. Their (poor people's) plight is going to be worst with each day of democracy. Weather people are brought from outside or inside these aayogs or commissions are the paly-in tools in the hands of government and just to popularize government working who ever is there in the power. These people stay there in the job as long as it suits their interests and if not they will go back to their earlier jobs in India or abroad without bothering much about the planning because that is the thing which they have not done while in the commission/aayog itself. This is just to fool the people and does not matter much if it is Indian trained economist or foriegn trained. SJM too has its own interests least bothered about the true plight of non-elites in the country. They are also there in the movement to just cook their cakes and it them.

There are several Desi selfless genious persons although not highly qualified can take indian economy to greater heights. However our politicians and beurocracy always want to copy western systems even though poverty is not eradicated since long.Do not just ape western systems without study of our ground situations, our aspirations ,available talents, culture, values etc..Instead of high development what we see is rising maoism selfishness and disintegration
