leadership crisis at IIT

The image accompanying the article ,Minister of HRD, a non graduate with least academic inclination says it all. Need we say anything more. Educational institutions are the first thing being hit hardest by these half l.i.t.e.r.a.t.e political acolytes at the helm.

Mr Vilas Rao, whatever you may say about Smriti Irani but without any doubt she is more intelligent than you. With her own quality and capabilities she is today Union Minister while a person like you eventhough may be more educated than her will never achieve what she has achieve at her age instead of becoming a glorified clerk in any organisation.

Leadership at IITs

Our political class has destroyed our academic institutions for the sake of their influence in their day to day decision making and appointments. The faculty is still awaits implementation of seventh pay commission awards while civil servants are enjoying benefits for almost a year and still the Central government is aloof of the issue and busy in cutting grants to higher educational institutions.

Leadership at IITs

Observations of Mr Satya Pal is well taken but in the olden day's system (say 50 years ago), politically, we just didn't have people with adequate educational qualification or experience but they all had impeccable integrity and sincerity with brilliant advisors. Today, a premiere institution like an IIT can be headed by a non-engineer is a shameful reality and speaks volumes about degradation of standards which can only have disastrous results. I presume that it can only be due to political considerations or is it political corruption ???. I fully agree with every word said in the article by the Air Mshl/CNC and share 100% of his anguish as an ex-IITian who never left this country for greener pastures. I endorse the view by the Air Mshl, put forth so brilliantly, which I can say from my personal experiences as I continue to be associated, at senior level, with some of the IITs even now, having passed out more than 40 years ago. High time we discuss/correct the issues and the system within the next one year or face monumental failure. The BJP Govt has an excellent opportunity provided to them, only if they are willing to grab it and be different from others or be in the same league as the earlier corrupt Govts. May be our enthusiastic Mr Prakash Jawdekar MoHR is listening and has some faith that it will be Sabka Saath, Deshka Vikas. Thanks dear.

So True.
I feel that a proper list should be made about each institution of higher learning, as to what is their contribution to innovation, management etc.
Even the pass-outs, alumnus should be listed; as to in how many years of existence has been that contribution.
Only then will we know the true worth/rating of that institute.
