IRCTC message - AC tickets are sold at 57% of cost does not help
by Indian Sadhu on Oct 08, 2016 07:37 PM

When you buy an AC ticket on the internet, you will find this printed on every ticket. Do you seriously think that if this is the truth, a private investor will be interested in buying this organization. It would most probably be cash negative similar to Air India from day 1. Also, airlines are undercutting Rajdhani and Shatabdi "dynamic fares". People are laughing at these trains running empty.

NO LOSS
by M MallikarjunaRao on Oct 03, 2016 07:03 PM  | Hide replies

Railways is defenitely not under loss. It really makes more money than bus operators or airlines. Just calculate the amount collected for trip from Chennai to Delhi by Tamilnadu Express for instance. They will easily make a minimum amount of 2-3 lakhs easily after all the expenses. Not to say about the local trains and other ad hoc trips. They are just fooling the public. Also, they are collecting the money well in advance (120 days before the travel) and this is the only sector for which we pay money even before utilising the service. They collect huge cancellation fee if we dont travel wherein they should pay interest for keeping our money. No more the public can be fooled and they screwd up Air India due to this and again, following the same tactic for Railways too.

5ht 6th 7th Pay commisions- Way to privatisation
by SUBRAMANIAN VANJIAPPAN on Oct 03, 2016 02:40 PM

Remember for all Govt shemes there are hue and cry from pre 'reform' so called intellectuals and econimic pundits that Govt is in dire need of many which it cannt afford so it goes privatisation. What made this on should intraspect. The successive pay commissions made the the Govt finance run dry and all govt scheme failed financially . It applies to all PSUs and Govt departs. with buget support Govt depart could run the show, where as PSUs were dragged to death. with 5times increase in salary over 10-12 years still these babu want more salaries. The poor rulers continue to increase the pay to govt employees on every 10years leaving no money to even to maitain the Govt . So from where the investment will come. As per this article Rs 40000 crore wasted due to 7th pay commision in railways alone the same would have invested in railway infrastructure if all departments put togather this will run lakhs of crores. So the crux of privatisation , poor govt investment etc lies in excessive pay packages to Govt employees

Railways
by SATENDRA GOEL on Oct 03, 2016 11:15 AM

Govt not been able to do the job then try other way.Overstaffing and pension outgo is one of the main reason for cash crunch. You don't get a ticket till the last moment how can their be a fall in rail traffic cant understand.Yes one way the railway looses out is that if you are on waiting list the chart should be updated daily so that you know where you stand at present the passenger has to wait till the last day for confirmation so probably instead of waiting that long he will look for alternative means of transport.

PROBABLY IT MAY BE HANDED OVER TO THE ADANIS OR THE AMBANIS, AND THEN AIR TRAVEL WILL BE CHEAPER THAN RAIL TRAVEL AND THE POOR HAVE TO TRAVEL IN TRUCKS AND VANS

Scare mongering
by bakchod on Oct 02, 2016 05:50 PM

He is just scare mongering. This govt is not even privatising disastrous PSUs like Air India, MTNL, BSNL, etc. So why would it privatize railways? On the contrary, no govt in history has invested as much in railways as the current govt. Railways problem is that the AC fares have been increased too much and the non-AC fares are practically the same as 15 years ago. So obviously they will make losses and lose the AC passengers to Volvo and air travel (which is cheaper due to lower crude oil / aviation fuel prices).

Kill the mistake not the man who commits mistake
by R ponnabalam on Oct 02, 2016 05:43 PM

We killed Public sector Industries and made sons daughters of super rich industrialists Dirctors etc and think that instead of enjoying life of luxury as arranged by their parents wealth they would full plunge headlong into business and work full time for industry growth. How many pvt. companies after the slaughter of Public sector industries have become high stature industries offering world class products and employment opportunities , leav aside the IT sector which was a good turn of events due to its newness.
If ISRO ,BARC can be run by Govt. Railways can also be run.Railway has flaws , correct it Mistakes are to be corrected. Don't kill the man who makes mistakes. We nationalised banks.Their performance? They will tell sorts of indices. When interest rate is 10% and inflation is also 10% the money is practcally given free to rich people to increase their personal wealth.Reports say SAHARA wants sell its prperty or holdings in foreign countries. Why were invested there. Was the bank loan given for investing abroad R.PONNAMBALAM

'The government would want to privatise the railways'
by kaushal kumar on Oct 02, 2016 11:46 AM  | Hide replies

One thought that Indian Railways was to transport common man at reasonable cost, fast pace and with essential services.
What do we have today, increasing prices of tickets, absence of facilities. Forget clean blankets, bed sheets or pillow covers, they are all folding on floors next to the toilets even the food served is insufficient, poor quality and at exorbitant cost. By privatizing food items numerous players come into coaches all claiming to be authorized. Is there any check? NO SIR. You can't catch them.
I only pray we don't see a major food poisoning in the near future.
Railway officials may kindly be made to compulsory travel unreserved and in 2nd class coaches as a common man on long distance trains like chattisgarh exp, kalka mail, GT etc.

Yes Sir. You said it. But I already said it. Do you think Railway Officials or Railway Minister OR someone else in the Ministry, read such comments? If they do, they will die of shock or shame.
