Landing in the well.....
by Dattaprasad Prabhu on May 31, 2016 02:24 PM

Govt must invoke the old rule that landing in the well (in front of the Chairman) to create Ruckus, amounts to expulsion of the concerned member for the rest of his period as MP. This rule was invoked in the last session wrt TMC MP, albeit his suspension for that day and not entire tenure, for asking "more questions" regarding Augusta-Westland.

Govt Confident of GST Passage
by Prem Swarup on May 31, 2016 09:51 AM

As a common man , I am still not clear how GST will benefit public as cost of many direct services will go up due to 18% GST against 14.5% Service tax. Yes it may improve government Tax revenue and also some ease of doing business in India for corporates .

WHAT AN IRONY ?
by Vascado on May 30, 2016 02:52 PM  | Hide replies

It is an irony that all those the BJP opposed when it was decorating the Opposition benches is now being flagged off as its initiatives when it holds the reins of power.

Aadhar, Cash transfer, FDI in Insurance, GST etc., were some of the Schemes BJP opposed vehemently and became its fiercest critics. But, once enconsced to power, mystically these Schemes became BJP's pet projects and were launched with much fanfare, extragavanza and shrill noises of these initiatives transforming the Country.

Parodixically, the one thing, BJP supported ardently namely the Land Acquistion Bill and where its leaders on the floor of Parliament demanded that the contents should never be diluted lest it could be inferred as detrimental to the farmer's interests got amended within three months of this Govt coming to power with the social impact assessment and consent clause ejected out.

Re: To save the nation, first reduce the salaries of gov employee
by Vascado on May 30, 2016 03:05 PM
A genuine demand but will find few takers.

The salaries and perquisites of the President, PM, Cabinet Ministers, MPs and MLAs also have to be pruned down.

Sushma's Ministry recently got a Jaguar Car which costs over Rs. 50 lakhs.

First reduce the perks and benefits enjoyed by politicians from all parties; then we can talk of Govt. employees.
