Some of the letters written on this topic in this column are uncharitable. For once we have a minister who is achieving results at a real fast pace and these guys who are perennial cribbers make idiotic statements. Everyone has a right to dream and if we achieve even 50% of it, it is dam good. So stop this purposeless criticism and help him in whatever way you can to achieve what he is projecting.
Mr. Gadkari must use his influence and acumen to see that all the investments made by the general public are completely exempted from income tax for ever. And no investigation would be made as to from where they got these funds. Public will be too pleased to fill his corpus far exceeding his target.
Request govt to invest in R&D to identify ways to use materials that are freely available to charge the cars and be pollution free from the fossil fuels which we are importing at high costs. May be using sea water, plain water, used cooking oil or based from any vegetable or waste or from sewage which are abundantly available. IT can be gas produced sewage or garbage when mixed with certain other chemicals

If it was workable, I mean alternate fuel, would'nt the west have switched to it by now and don't you think our scientist (who today launched a space shuttle) would not have harnessed it?
All this bio-diesel thru jethropa plant etc. looks good only in research paper for for science exhibitions, trust me!
It is not difficult to raise funds for developments, But first reduce govt expenses & salaries. Compare to salary results from Govt is poor performance, But plans are good.
It is not that easy to mobilise the funds of Rs.25 Lakh Crores for roads and ports as claimed by the Minsiter Mr.Gadkari. Rather than starting more financial institutions the Govt should think of introducing innovative financial instruments of longer tenure, allow Insurance and Pension Funds to pump more money into the infra projects, not only from India but also from abroad. Construction of plastic roads to be encouraged that are not only eco friendly, but more durable involving less maintenance costs giving smooth ride, saving on fuel consumption. Unless we ensure availability of finance with loner tenure and at a stable interest rate the issue will continue to remain as it is. B.N.V.Parthasarathi.

No matter that the transport ministry has huge potential un tapped in INDIA It is to start with inter roads for minimum FOUR lanes then all national roads to minimum SIX to EIGHT lanes
Then there should be interstate roads to TWO lanes, the railways should be TWO way of all and all for quality speed activities There has to be one department for RIVER modifications and increasing the depths of the rivers apart from cleaning part
The shipping needs BIG boost across all the sea ports as we are with 2/3 part of SEA land coverage
Now I think lot of ground work is being done presently and there are lot of loop holes as well bottlenecks
Seeing the personality of GADKARI this man will never be idle and he will be doing it
Yes, some times the politicians are of 50 % GAS & 50 % of hard working ..however you need both
