REgulating Banks
by Shriniwas Kelkar on Jun 19, 2016 12:16 PM  | Hide replies

If SEBI can control and keep in check a huge sector and stock markets, mutual funds and other financial institutions wonder, why Banks cannot be regulated in the similar way by RBI? Isn't something lacking -either the wish to do so or lethargy and political influence?

SEBI and RBI cant be compared. SEBI is only controlling volatile equity market wherein after some years there are cases of money evaporating altogether. Banks on the other hand if start working like that then there will be a total chaos.

PSU Banks-political interference
by sreerama on May 23, 2016 07:12 AM

In India all political parties are responsible for the bad governance of banks misusing public money for selfish gains of their political parties,by doling out thousands of crores from Ex chequer to fulfill their promises to public for coming to power. These commitments/promises should be met from their party funds and not public money saved in PSU banks& one day hon supreme court too wld clarify to all political parties promising impossible promises looting the Indian economy.jeediguntaGoa

Only political interference in granting loans to undeserved people/industrialists without any suitable security/mortgage of assets to successfully received the loans granted is the main reason for draining of publics hard earned money saved with PSU banks.Even bankstaff too exploited weakness of politicians to their benefit.Unless this govt acts tough with politicians and connected industrialists who though are in a position to repay are not doing so for selfish interest of am massing more n more wealth.punish both bank staff& politicians who brought pressure on banks.clean HP first all this smelly mess.jeediguntaGoa

by mukund savaskar on May 13, 2016 12:05 PM

A Fair Teachings of the school would do great to each of the Nation's Banks-
Dear I mean by that, its not a rocket science, but a simple school teaching/ need to be followed as a LAW- but who is to follow-as the Law is made for the Learned and Pious people, n not for the 90% goon behaviour, who disobeys law- that\'s the human nature overall, everywhere...!! This attitude dumps the banks in the US Systems with 3 besel international system..!! But still the inhuman nature -which is majority chunk in the society-prevails...!! No law works when it comes to greed of Money and Power....History repeats!!Amen...

This is an accumulated problem of several decades. Now Banking Berueo Board,RBI and Finance Ministry Union Govt have to have a vision to strengthen the Indian Banking system. Of course we have to heed to the suggestions of BASEL committee . What BASEL is suggesting is on the basis of data of banking failures and misadventures in the banking arena.
