Indian Economy

India should go for massive irrigation Projects by river linking, construction of dams and canals and go above monsoon to have very high agri growth. This will solve water problems in entire India also. India should be the massive supplier of agri items to GCC. Make dams in Kerala, drill holes to Tamil Nadu and supply water to TN.Overrule functioning of state Govts where inefficiency and anarchy comes.
Reform judicial system, Govt Schools [ entire India should follow -may be CBSE,] Police & Armed forces
Easiest Reform urgently required is entire Govt benefits should be based on economic weakness. Remove caste, religion based rules and benefits etc as it is total foolishness. World is laughing at us.
Promote export based on quality of endurance and trouble free usefulness & not based on cheapness. Urge PM for it to have a resurgent World Class India.

4% taxpayer to voter ratio.tax payer cover needs to be increased. This is due to inefficiency of IT. Actual ratio may be much higher.Increasing base will give relief to tax payer. All should contribute by paying tax.It seems that high income persons have done some crime for which he has to pay. He too have a family to feed .

Allowing farmers to export directly? Will they be able to do that? Middlemen will jump-in and eat the cake, that will increase the inflation further...

Gold subsidy ?! Nuts
by Bharat Kumar on Mar 25, 2016 11:50 AM

If you make Gold much more expensive in India than in International markets, people smuggle gold! Mr Subbu is an accountant, not an economist. Mr Rajan has the vision but no execution skills. He was the economic adviser to the earlier government, but couldn't do much, whatever the excuses of bureaucratic inaction. For some strange reason, he didn't speak out much then, probably didn't want to get onto the wrong side of bureaucrats and bankers before he became the RBI governor. Such expediencies of people with influence is the curse that we have to suffer.

I recall how Deepak Parekh and YV Reddy stood their ground well before the 2008 security crisis, despite the political pressure to let the funny money into the country. That would have created a bigger bubble of stink. Quite a few of those home loans, I suspect, are still rotting under the banks' carpets and glossed over as NPAs.

I plead with the Congress leadership on behalf of the common citizens to let bygones be bygones and expedite GST, Bankruptcy law and whatever comes in the way of the growth of the economy. Let India shine again, Congress will come back to power, with an even bigger surprise candidate as the prime minister, not to worry :) Some will remain unelectable even to Rajya Sabha and so will not be able to repeat that it is their democratic right to disrupt parliament again !

Gold is an investment good. Subsidy is meant to be provide below cost...not taxing gold is not a subsidy.
He should be hanged naked for his logic has caused food to disappear from plates of middle-class and poor people of the country.

I am sorry sir, just basic Macroeconomics - the valuation or devaluation of currency does not indicate a "disastrous" or strong state of economy.

To give a layman's example - the Euro is costlier than the US Dollar, but the US is a much "stronger" economy than the Eurozone (at present)

@Prakash Bednekar - not trying to support Modi Govt here, but your data is quite incorrect. During the current Govt, the farmer suicides are down 20% and even then the suicides are over 12000 in number.

As per National Crime Records Bureau - the highest number of farmer suicides in the last 15 years was in 2004 (18,241) during UPA I.
The average of 2009-2013 (UPA II) was over 14100 per year.
Year 2015 numebrs are not yet available but in 2014, the number of farmer suicides was 12,360 - which is 20% less than the average of UPA II.
