Can we believe the government's GDP figures?
by susarla suryaprakasam on Jun 04, 2016 09:16 AM  | Hide replies

Yes, same as I don't believe my father. And Chidambaram, he is a lawyer(lie-er), not an economist. Because he supports Rajan, Swamy opposes him (Rajan). With >50% of Indian economy run on black-money and bribe, which figure will be true or consistent.

Urge for Positive articles
by ASA C on Jun 04, 2016 07:29 AM

Style or English is not the essence. Urge journalists to write-articles or news which will provide existing issues and possible solutions. Negative news or articles have no meaning for Country. Work for the progress of Country & not for leg pulling.

PM Modi is the available Best
by ASA C on Jun 04, 2016 07:24 AM

PM Modi is the available Best. Congress is the negative force and the family is so negative and senseless. First time in India logical discussion has come in Politics. Moving in the right direction, speed may be less, hopefully it will accelerate.

Narendra Modi got it horribly wrong as always
by abhijeet sonkule on Jun 04, 2016 02:58 AM

It does not matter whether growth comes from democracy, dictatorship or communist regime but it is the compulsory requirement of the leadership to provide good governance in form of low inflation, affordable housing, clean and healthy environment with safety measures. It is imperative that you lower the food price to such an extent, that poor can eat, provide them basic than showing bullet train dreams. This you can do in second or third term. Reduce judicial backlogs by innovative ways. Show to the world India can innovate by amending constitutional changes. They have got it all wrong. Food price is unimaginably high, jobs have decreased considerably, pollution is on rise and life has deteriorated to such an extent that India is becoming difficult. Nobody cares what policy you implemented for ease of business or tax. What a common man wants is result on ground level. Daal price if anyone sell for 100 RS more send them to jail. Eliminate middle man. Take iron hand. If opposition acts smart, send them to jail. People and world remembered Lee Kuan Yew or Deng Xiaoping not for treating opposition well..Congress are leeches who looted india..crush them by suits or other methods if they are not cooperating..people have remembered lee and deng for taking millions out of poverty and raising standard of living.. You have 3 years left..your first step should be cheapest food, affordable housing, safety and raising standard of living and jobs then bullet train

by MM Gupta on Jun 03, 2016 05:33 PM  | Hide replies

Chidambaram twisted the knife with this jibe: 'The average citizens need jobs and incomes. They do not consume GDP numbers.' HE KNEW THIS WHEN HE WAS IN GOVT?
OR LEARNT NOW?
NO POINT IN TEACHING "A PILLAR OF A STRUCTURE" THAT IS COLLAPSING -
IT COULD HAVE BEEN SHOWN DURING YR TRYING PERIOD!

Sad to see Modi bhakts buying white lies on growth figures.
by Rajesh Chheda on Jun 03, 2016 05:09 PM  | Hide replies

I am no fan of growth figures either of previous or current govts. Yet ground reality in urban as well as rural areas indicate historical distress and each and every person whether male or female whether from majority or minority whether from upper castes or from other castes, whether Modi supporters or other supporters all have admitted one thing in common, "economically they are worse off than they were two years ago."
If India has added hundreds of billion to GDP in last two years then the gains have gone to Top richest class, sadly Top richest class also has been worst hit in terms of decline in their income and affluence. So where has the money generated by higher GDP gone?

Randomly make a statement without any data, and then keep blabbering.

All data that exists shows that the ground situation has improved. The FDI has increased by 30% for the year, more industries, more jobs, power situation is like never before in 65 yrs after independence, corruption is down at the highest levels.

But no, you don't need numbers. all you need the back side of one particular family. and you will rubbing all your life.

The only way money increases in your pocket is thru increment. You expect govt to cut tax to put money in your pocket. That is not how economy works. Yes we are seeing slugishness in new job creations in Manufacturing. Those are the real job creators. In Service sector, companies always find ways to do more with less head count. So job growth is historically low in Service sector. This needs to change. We need world class car brands from India, we need exports in Electronics and consumer goods from India. We need products made with hand than with machines. Those generate jobs.
