Protest in front of promoters and defaulters who are killing the banking system by way of bad loans.

I work for SBI and can tell you following facts

Bank unions are useless. They never work except for favouritism and transfers. They must be scrapped.
Our bank has very strict policies so strict that we waste our valuable time in doing useless and non productive work. Even RBI needs to relax certain norms otherwise PSU are gonna suffer. Private banks have lesser paperwork than SBI. City union bank can give 100 gold loans whereas SBI can only give 20 with heavy paper work and redundancies.
Next comes AGM and DGMs who invite you to their office 100km away for 1hr lecture. Instead of using skype these ppl waste valuable time. I think productivity of SBI employees will be higher than other govt depts but surely lower than any other private bank.

People thing that staff in SBI donot work. Your wrong , most of them are forced to work now with the introduction of queue management system(token machine) . this QMS is monitored by top offcials so the clerical staff are forced to work. But biggest problem in SBI is audit. i see branches dont sanction loans cause audit is due. dont give noc saying audit is due. noc takes hardly 10mins. these guys take months .Unless SBI can scrap out useless and non productive work , its gonna get worse with competition rising.

NO AFFECT
by rana suvarna on Jul 29, 2016 07:41 PM

Sriking PSB employees for a day may give most of them a day rest and probably a day's loss of pay. It neither affects public or industry. With more disciplined private banks, alternative is available. PSB employees instead of competing with private banks they are digging their pit for further downfall by striking work for their meaningless demand.

Why Bankers are striking?
by eknath baliga on Jul 29, 2016 04:15 PM

We always try to see the world with our yellow glasses and call the world yellow. Bankers have struck today not for salary or perquisites. Their demands mainly are:
a. Not to merge the Public Sector Banks which is a prelude to privatise this massive nation\'s assets - to throw the asset into private hands.
b. Support the PSBs through requisite capital infusion.
c. Implement tougher laws and regulations for recovery of bulged NPAs - loans taken by so called efficient \"Private Sector\" undertakings not repaid - like a few Vijay Mallyas etc.

They have foregone today\'s salary to express protest against wrongful Government policies in the name of banking sector reforms which are as per the advise of western consultants like Mckinsey and Earnst & Young. These agencies could not save the banks in UK & USA during sub-prime crisis and have come to preach Indians to dismantle 5 decade old banking system of our country which withstood sub-prime ripples without any hurt. The public may try to understand that mergers will lead to rationalisation (read closure) of so many bank branches. The existing staff will be rationalised - invariably through a VRS. For next 5 -10 years, there will be no employment in banks - which presently is the biggest fresh employment generating industry. Bank\'s money will be plundered by corporates. Common and poor man will find his entry into the transformed banking entities very difficult. The words of synnergy, rationalisation a
