In Puri Jagannath temple white version of Rasagola (as an Oria pronounce) is offered as Pasad. It is the original version of Rasagola. In a general scenario if a person or a company creates something and it is loved by people, then it is not his last product which he has invented. He also tries some more creative experiments on that product to attract people. It depends on the people who love the new variety or old one. So one should not say the original is not invented by the originator or it is not his product. No creator/inventor will accept this concept. So Rasogola is invented in Odisha and GI tag should be given to her only. Even if there is written evidence with Odisha, if Geographical Indications Registry office in Chennai is favouring West Bengal then it is different matter.
Dandi Ramayan which was written in 15th century by one of the Panch Shaka, identifies the Rasgullah was originated from Odisha and use to be offered to Lord Jagannath when HE returns to his abode during Rath Yatra. It is like Lord Krishna was to Devaki but was brought up by Yashoda. Same case here. Odisha people who use to work in Calcutta during 17th century created this recipe in Bengal. Essentially the core engineering of the Rasgulla remains same as it was invented, only the colour and marketing got changed. Just by changing the product's colour and horizon is a presentation skill, but the core engineering will lead to IP tagging. In this case Odisha should get the GI tag and Bengal as a neighbour will honour this.
Odisha govt did a project to search thru all old artifacts around Lord Jagannathji and they finally sighted its origin. Bengal should support this fact.

Odisha people are not sleeping. They don't believe in conflict. So nobody should take advantage of this quality.

There was no such place called Odisha when Rassagolla was invented. It was called "Gour Banga" at that time. So we dismiss Odisha's demand
Once upon a time a bengali visited puri (lord JAGAGNNATH)and tasted our sweet rasgolaa , and did some make over to the sweet . Since west bengal is more advanced than Odisha they are taking the benefits .
