THE DEEN DAYAL IS A BIG BOON TO THE POOR CLASS PEOPLE. A GREAT THING FOR THE POOR!
Cost of one Deen Dayal coach is 81 lakh. For comparison, cost of one coach of bullet train (which will be imported from Japan) will be about 35 Crore (the landed cost at Mumbai port). So for the cost of one coach of bullet train, we can have 40 Deen Dayal coaches.
Also the cost of maintaining a Bullet train comes to about 8-10 times the cost of maintaining a standard rail coach.

THE COST OF ELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION IS VERY LESS COMPARED TO DEEN DAYAL OR GARIB RATH OR HEEN HAYAL. FURTHER EVERYTHING IS MADE FOR THE FACILITY OF RICH FIRST AND LATER THE POOR.
It takes a great effort to dream of doing something this big. In a country like ours, where the bulk populace is uneducated, and I do not mean illiterate, it needs a radical change of mindset to maintain the coaches. Or else we are looking at another colossal waste of funds.

Many of the existing designs are very old. example the windows, Upper birth , fans etc.
For example the FAN design has never changed for decades? Getting on/off the upper birth is literally a circus.
Railways really need to go for drastic change in design philosophy.
A majority of the Passengers throw in Rubbish in Bio Toilets thus affecting it's functioning.
The quality of food served onboard and in the stations is pathetic. I hope Mr. Prabhu takes courage to allow third party restaurants atleast in Major Stations.
Congratulations to the Railway Minister for introducing comfortable coaches. I also request the Railway Minister to conduct a Trial of suitable Rescue Devices for extrication of passengers in the event of an accident to the train which would be operated by deploying such coaches. Maintaining them will be challenging. Merely photo shoots will not do. However Prabhuji is doing good job for Indian railways. He must be complimented.

No doubt, his work has shown he is immensely capable person.
New Design is a welcome sign.. but how frequently and efficiently Railways would manage to maintain the amenities is a big big question. Water Purifiers / Chargers would need REGULAR MAINTENANCE for sure and citizens are skeptical about how Railways would manage this show bcoz as of now the Chargers installed in AC Coaches / Rajdhani are already in bad shape.
While Mr Prabhu is taking good initiatives he should also have a detailed look at WINDOWS of all unreserved and Sleeper class compartments of all Trains. More than 50% Windows are not in proper order and shape and passengers are facing a lot of hardships in ACUTE WINTER and MONSOON. I wish Mr Prabhu will read this comment or atleast there is someone who can atleast pass on this to him for further action. This is most needed change for Railways.

You are right Mr. Shah. I travel weekly in duranto exp.(Nagpur to Mumbai). Bio toilets flush are not working. so many times it is difficult to enter in washroom.Direct journey . Night travel. Railway not maintaing.
