Mr Arvind Panagaria to take out as next RBI Governor
by Kirtikumar Jain on Jul 11, 2016 07:51 PM  | Hide replies

If you recollect, Mr Arvind Panagaria once stated that, to solve the problem of pollution people should shift to use electricity for cooking instead of fossil fuels.

This shows the level of intelligence of people like Arvind Panagaria, who do not know that in the first place we have to burn 3 units of fossil fuel to get 1 unit of electricity at home.
With such people at the helm, what we can expect is repetition of what Rajan did. By keeping interest rates high, rupee has fallen from around 40-45/us$ to 67-68/us$ in 5 years time. With falling rupee how inflation would come down is a mystery known only to Dr Subbarao and Dr Rajan.

The point is when fossil fuels are burnt for generating power, polluting gases generated can be better controlled and taken care off - whereas distributed generation of burnt gases cannot be. also, this equation 3 units of fossil fuel per unit of electric power is not correct. I am not concerned with Arvind Panagaria, but just wanted to say what I knew. Electric cars are being promoted by Elon Musk in the US based on the same arguement that it pollutes less using even Thermally generated electricity since at the point of generation of electricity, gases can be handled more easily.. Plus in future solar is going to play a larger role in electricity generation.

Government is always giving shocks. No one thought of his name and media says that PM can appoint him as the governor of RBI.

Why should we be shocked? Even if this were true that Panagaria becomes RBI governor what is wrong? He seems to be educated...for the job.
