updating technology is not so easy. safety of ones account is of the utmost importance. the only reason of why Indians prefer cash transactions is the safety of the money. cyber attacks can have a devastating effect on the person. the society. with only one source of money that is the card. no one can be happy. or safe. I think th basic thought has been missed by the politicos and bankers alike. vulnerability of the banks and hence the lack of trust. Take the recent haul of 1000 crores in a few individuals house. all these have sent bad news for the public in general that banks are not safe. so how would you like a society which is xposed to a defunct and out dated technology to depend on some computer and feel safe.

by Sanjay Tomar on Dec 13, 2016 09:50 AM  | Hide replies

In India BJP government has nexus with Corporate to cheat people. Already they are using poor people money in cashless transaction then also charging 1% service charge on transaction is anti people decision. Why people should pay for cashless transaction is very bad as commission is cruel decision against people need to stop immediately. Otherwise BJP government has no right to promote cashless transaction to cheat people in India ..

For retired persons cashless transaction sounds easy & simple if safety & security of the system is guaranteed by govt. Then charging of service tax in the transaction is comes as additional burden for senior citizens. There should be a defined law for reimbursement of the lost money, if it is lost in this process due to hacking & any other unfortunate happenings. Instances are there where hacking has taken a important issue recently. In case money, hacking can be described as easy process of earning money where real owner is likely to lose everything which is his hard earned money through his entire career. Instances in recent past show clear evidences of loopholes in our banking / security systems where a huge amount of money in new currency notes are found at different places including J&K. And these money were meant for banking system / ATMs & for general public. Inconveniences including deaths for withdrawal of own money could have been avoided if the present govt system wanted this to happen.
Conventional banking system to continue at least for next one / two year/ years for systematic transition of new arrangement with a firm commitment of safety & security of the system/s.

Before shouting at the top of their voice favouring cashless transactions (specially Paytm!), the lawmakers should be provided by their bureaucrats minimum knowledge of what the present system of ATMs and other means of cashless transactions are vulnerable to. After foreseeing the failure of demonetisation, by cashless transactions, the govt. is again going to put the money of the poor people at risk. The Indian ATMs are presently run on Win XP, a version of MS windows for which MS has ceased to provide security since 2014. Mere boasting that there are 2 lakh ATMs in the country (which is again of course very small number compared to "Sawaso crore" aadmi) does not fulfil the purpose. After 31 Dec.'16, PM has to answer the country what the country (the poor people) has or has not achieved.
