I wonder why the writer stopped short of estimating the loss to the country by way of the Air Passage of the various dignitories who attended visited Chennai to pay thier respects.
The SOBs that calculate losses on sentimental issues should leave all sentiments including molestations and rapes and live like any other beings whose main avocation is food and procreation without any compunctions. I welcome it.
I think it's unfair to count numbers and money on a day to day basis and associate it with extra-ordinary events. With the current demonetisation effects and a dull off-take scenario, whatever claimed to be loss on production for sales, may not be actually sold, hence may be it wouldn't hurt after all. What is actually required by TN or any state for that matter. Sustainable policies ground up for both Agriculture, Manufacturing and Services sector. For agriculture, water conservation, sustainable soil management programme, increasing yield and farm to market connectivity and better realisation for farmers with less middle-men and transport costs. For Industries, excellent all-round infrastructure, stable power availability & cost, rational labour practices and non-interferences, fast & less cost connectivity by Road, Rail, Sea and Air for industrial inputs & sales. For services, lesser intrusion and reasonable taxation. ITes : already pampered for 1-1/2 decades, not necessary to facilitate more currently.

Influential leaders when they are alive should make a public appeal not to close down usual business activities incase of their death. Their fan and follower can observe their mourning by one day fast and silence in respect of their leader.
