We praise any measure to make the economy free from 'dirty money' and a trend of rewarding the 'rentiers'and 'profiteers' as the article intends to do . Shri S Muralidharan has made a very good effort in the defense of demonetization move apparently very objectively and neutrally based on a belief that the government has really moved with a well thought out strategy without any political compulsion. In the first instance the article is not neutral and it is distinctly visible that the author is out to demean and discredit other opinions and give '1' marks to the move by forced arguments and analysis. The author even laughs on other opinions, a kind of intolerance'? In true sense demonetization has 'sterilized' a part of black money in cash (only a part because many windows remained open to exchange the big denomination money) and also 'flushed' out 'FICN'. Taken together the amount of sterilized black money is not worth the amount of 'disruptions' and 'real costs'- first order and second order both. The author has deliberately ignored that amid sluggish growth and unemployment, languishing industrial sector and exports and reforms on the papers or diluted reforms including measures against black money along with uncertain fate of hawkish foreign policy (about 90 soldiers killed on the borders in installments), the government was losing on the 'very moral grounds' it came to power. Hence this'whimsical' measure of demonetization to restore the lost poli

Demonization is not the end of corruption. Apart from removing current tender of Rs 500 and Rs 1000. A slew of actions on tax reforms and plugging other channels of diverting black money is an urgent requirement. The expectations of an honest Indian will be to these reforms fast tracked in the financial budget for 2017-18, coupled with a whole hog push for digitisation.

Folks be ready for negative deposit interest rates in next 2 years time.... it means you will not be able to park your money in banks....when deposit rates turn negative, it will be the depositor who would have to pay to the Bank
