India's growth performance is not to be measured by comparing it the growth under British days.I has to be compared with the growth performance of countries like China, japan,S.Korea as they operata in similar time domain. What is our industrial growth?Day in day out we see mourning-writing that China is the manufacturing hub of the world. India went in for market Economy for growth. What is the result?Who and what are the culprits.Do we know those that we can take corrective actions. Why the much touted efficient Private sector-but managed by all sorts of relatives , and friends royality taking loyality- is short of funds to invest. When jobless growth was told by many did not the country clap to the symphony of that trickle down effect heroes! What were our authorites managing balance of Trade doing as correction when the trade with china is not in favour. Are these authorities are there to do primary school arithmatics .We don't do our job earnestly and do all orts of bla bla R.PONNAMBALAM
I find that Rediff has been very critical of Mr. Raghuram Rajan . Agreed he, along with his team have been responsible for reducing inflation, fiscal deficit . But why are your writers criticising him like this, especially at the time of his leaving . If you read his speeches he has not been critical of the Govt. at all . These are lies which the Sangh parivar wants to maintain . In fact D.V. Subba Rao was much more critical of the UPA Govt. and they gave him an extention .

I may sound outright cynical, even sinister, to suggest that Urjit Patel's elevation as the new Governor of RBI could be seen as an act of pacification of a disgruntled Patel lobby in Gujarat and elsewhere in India, but his appointment engenders this point as well. You can't parry it. Otherwise, where was his name among the likely contenders to become the next Governor of RBI after Dr Raghuram Rajan?

Are you smarter than the panel who elect RBI Governor...? There is no connection between electing Patel as a RBI governor and polishing Patel lobby in Gujarat otherwise you forcefully connect... Why so much untrust to the 'SYSTEM'...?

Mr Alok Kumar,You just go through the qualification and experience of Urjit Patel and you will find him not less talented than Raghuram Rajan. His appointment is purely on merit.
if rajan is the silver bullet for indina economy why was he not given much before? thanks to author identification public speaking governors... the comparison should have been there from the first RBI governor till date
