What is Jagdish Bhagwati's view on pulse prices?
by Rajesh Chheda on Aug 22, 2016 01:41 AM

Pulse prices in India in modi regime would have offered stupendous returns in margin trading. Mr JB must give clear idea on how he views pulse prices in India and how best to avoid the fiasco from now.

Nothing new in this team
by Sudarshan Nityananda on Aug 21, 2016 01:35 PM  | Hide replies

Let's look at what the "finest" economics team has done last 2 years.

1. Exports falling for 18 months. Textile industry in the deep doldrums.

2. Credit offtake and investment appetite lacklustre.

3. Inflation threatening to get out of hand.

4. Lukewarm interest in Make in India .

On the positive side the ease of doing business has gone up, but nobody wants to start a business !

Bhagwati talks as if this pro growth team is something new , but it has been around last 2 years and has not much to show for it.

If this govt stops sloganeering and works to meet latent demand, in agriculture, in textiles in housing, in education and healthcare and even transportation and energy supply, India needs no stimulus, no foreign capital. If country progresses fast, open defecation and cleanliness will automatically be followed instead of creating great advertisements and awareness programs, forcefully building toilets that convert into godowns and all that corruption that Swacch Bharat scheme is forcing...................I HATE MYSELF FOR VOTING MODI.

You should shudder to think about the alternative for the
Modi available in the country.
This only will bring back Modi

The days of anti-reform, anti-growth advisers that undermined our
by subir gupta on Aug 21, 2016 01:28 PM

Whom do we acknowledged as anti-reform, anti-growth advisers !!! Economy is not mathematics. The reality of economics depend on the culture, social and the attitude of the people-at-large in the country. Are they have rightly analysed??? There is no scope for any individual decision now. Decisions should be the outcome of thorough study and analysis.

The Experts Are Here .....The Economy Always Had The Potential...
by rishi on Aug 21, 2016 12:39 AM  | Hide replies

......unfortunately for us it was UPA's crafty policies and a shameless and wilfully lacking political will which suffered from a systemic disease that ensured the nation simply does not move forward economically while the political and self-proclaimed intellectual elite they nurtured kept indulging in horrendous levels of greed-driven corruption and injustice to the people of India.
We can be certain RSS-BJP with the vision of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' continues to be duly supported by a billion-plus well-wishers of the Nation in this endeavour to bring economic development to the doorstep of every Indian. The expert Mr. Bhagwati has spoken well of the prospects ahead.

Good news, in the wake of the coming festive season
by Parika Gupta on Aug 21, 2016 12:26 AM  | Hide replies

Have you checked the price of sugar recently?

Well it is selling between 42-50 Rs, a kg, depending on the quality.

I have put this up because the new RBI governer is an expert on controlloing inflation.

I remember a few years back when sugar touched 40 Rs. a kg, there was mayhem, by the politicians.

So if you want to make gram/chana dal halwa make sure you have enough finances.

Higher price for sulphur less sugar. At places it is 60 Rs. a kg.

Actually flood and drought spoiled sugar cane that is why such high price

Raahul and Fonia responsible for this.

Support price for cane needs to be revised for betterment of the lives of farmers but wonder why sugar price needs to remain at 40. Let it go even upto 60-70, i won't mind that after all i consume harly 2 kgs per month. Let the benefit reach the farmer
