A clock controlled sun tracking system

Making sweeping statements like \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"This is where the Indian scientists seem to have learnt a lesson from the sunflower plant by applying the knowledge to harvest more solar energy.\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" shows the typical thinking of rushing to laud any work done in the Western World, while being completely oblivious to much more useful work done in India.
In fact, the cited research is very interesting, but has no relevance with the development of a practical Solar Tracker.

A clock controlled sun tracking system for solar photo-voltaic and solar thermal collector was developed by us in IIT Kharagpur in early nineties. A Patent application was filed on 13-2-1998, and an Indian Patent was granted on 17-12-2008. (Patent No. 226437). We were given an award by the NRDC for this, and it found lot of coverage in Newspapers at that time. But we found no takers for this very useful system -- was low-cost and could be repaired by a cycle repair person. A communication to the Minister of Renewable Energy Sources was not even acknowledged. The use of this tracker would have boosted the power collected by 25 to 30%.
Professor Yash Pal Singh (Co-inventor)
Formerly Professor and Head of Electrical Engineering Department; and Coordinator Energy Engineering Program, IIT Kharagpur.

Nearly 11 years for the grant of patent. Then the bureaucrats simply sat over it. May be the present government and IITKgp alumni in high positions like Arvind Kejriwal can push up the case
